I've tried Road to 56 with a few helper mods like Better Mechanics: Frontline AI, and Increased Resources. The experience has so far been enjoyable, different, as well as more focus trees, longer tech trees, and the ability to more or less play out a 'What if WW2 carried on well into the 50's' sort of scenario, even if the main war is over well before '56.All of that being said, and for as popular as it is on the steam workshop, it sure seems like this mod gets a lot of hate. Could someone elaborate a bit more on what it is people don't like about this mod? Other than balance issues which I haven't found 'yet', I can't see any negatives. All it does is add more content where the vanilla content ends, right?.
And because of mods like that, actual historical mods are shat on by people who brush everything with broad strokes. I made a mod that got integrated into R56, and frankly despite me putting a long list of sources at the very beginning of the game a series of books that backed up every single thing inside that mod, I get fucking hate mail about shit I have nothing to do with by people who want memes instead of actual history. For christ sakes my history posts got not only gilded, but I was messaged by a journalist for a Q&A. I am being integrated into the Great War mod.' Wah, you can conquer the planet as a third world country! Well no fucking shit because Ethiopia, Bhutan, and fucking Luxemburg is able to conquer the entire planet even in Vanilla. You can take on Soviet Russia with 1/100th of its army and still win easily. I can't do anything about the AI being shit or other modders not modeling the majors correctly.Who often are missing most of their shit.'

Today we take a look at the Road to 56 mod for HOI4. This mod expands the focus trees of most major nations in the world, causing huge changes to World War 2. We will definitely re-visit Road to.
Wah, you get 2.5 million manpower by implementing a real world plan to draft all registered militia members and with manpower estimated by actual government memos! And it was implemented before 1940 because of increasing tension!'
Yeah, what you want me to do about it? They were already considered pseudo military units and just like real life you have fuck all factories to supply them. At best you can only supply a small fraction of that at a time. Which is exactly what the reality would've been.
You got bodies, so what if you can only make 30 rifles a day?Ultimately everything comes down to feels over realz. The community wants their favorite to be far and away the most powerful thing to exist. Its not just the poor quality of mods that created this knee jerk reaction, its the toxic community surrounding it and their nationalist meme-history that turned R56 into this. Its what they vote for and make. God forbid their favorite country loses in ANY match or any minor power has any sort of military at all.God forbid Russia stomps Germany like in real history. God forbid the UK does anything but sit on an island while the Americans save the planet.
God forbid Italy does a damn thing.and god fucking forbid Kawaii Desu Hirohito is anything but a god emperor bringing civilization to the crass uncultured Americans.and lets not even get into how Paradox enables this with meme focus DLC that manages to be even less quality than free mods.So Great Experiment tries to make everyone happy, but he only has so much to work with in the first place because the community wants these OP mods and the vast majority are OP. You mean my little section of R56? Since I only ever know the production of my little corner?Upcoming changes:.PEMEX embargo will now have a steep penalty.
In real life it didn't beyond political fallout, but its to shut up the people bitching.Mexico will now have a 50% penalty to aviation production until it aligns with a faction.Mexico's DN-II will be fixed to have its real bonus.DN-I is being nerfed to 10% max bonus to real life.Mexico will now only gain cores after the war in a very controversial event (hint: deport).Mexico's air designers will have a permanent 20% production penalty to all planes designed by them.Agrarian Union will need actual reason to be implemented either by Mexico being at war or tension is above 20%. Could someone elaborate a bit more on what it is people don't like about this mod?Long story short, the problem with this mod is that it's not a mod.In broad terms, it's a content pack, except it's a pack that hasn't been balanced or polished all that well. There's a lot of stuff, but there's not a lot to do.The focus trees for the various countries are typically unbalanced or aren't useful. The fact that RT56 is riveted together out of other mods means that it's not as easy to patch when vanilla changes, meaning bugs that have been in vanilla for a long time don't get addressed in Rt56. Here's looking at you, Blue Korea. I don't play it, since there is no synergy between mods.
You can play Austria, use the new focus tree to get yourself into the axis, but because the German tree reworks Anschluss, the Germans will still try to annex you. I have only played through that modpack once as Com. China if memory serves.
What I disliked was that the events/focus/decisions were not very transparent on what they did. I believe one focus started some event chain of Hundred Flowers or something, but that name doesn't really mean much to a player. (Name's not so transparent like 'Great Officer Purge' or such.). Though that could just be because not all focus trees are of the same quality, I would rather not deal with it.
I wanted a challenging experience, not a confusing one.Aside from that, the modpack adds some new techs and industry. But there's already the 'expanded industry and techs' mod which does that part.In short, I liked the various techs/mechanics expansions but didn't like the various focus trees, so now for a 'go until 1956' experience, I just play with various mods that are part of the Road to '56 pack instead of using that modpack itself.
I fucking love how they reacted to the Mexican tree and the exile newspaper. Chose that image for a reason.
I was sad when Alex the Rambler and Isorrow never pointed it out.Although I do know DN-II is broken because of a mistype, really gotta fix that. I didn't consider the clash with R56 because NU is useless without it and it was meant as a flavor focus that effected nothing because once you lose Veracruz + capital you are pretty much done anyway.Still don't see what was wrong with Camacho if the election even fired, the real bad one is the secret communist leader for Mexico. I couldn't get that guy to look good.
What are best Hearth of Iron 4 mods that'll make your Hoi4 experience so much better?Steam Workshop houses nearly 17,000 mods for Hearts of Iron IV. Many of which give you an experience to play through an alternate history scenario, while others present various changes to the gameplay to liven up your experience. Amongst the list are a number of mods that certainly will bring balance and more control into your HoI experience. We're sure that you can take away at least a few of these mods from the list to try out.15. Project XThe political landscape is interesting, and a matter to look forward to see shift and evolve as this mod is being actively worked on.
Good luck, Stalker (the creator). I'm rooting for you.I stumbled upon this mod while browsing through the workshop, as I was itching to play a new game of Hearts of Iron because of the article. It was only uploaded thirteen days ago, too.
So, it’s pretty new to the scene. It’s certainly an interesting mod that takes you into the near future, 2060 to be exact. There are many events that occur between 2035 and 2060, as an arms race occurs between China and the United States, all the while oil resources deplete from increased consumption, and the world economy collapses in on itself. The premise is interesting, not necessarily original in fiction – however it’s nice to find a mod that brings such a thought game to reality.Link to the Mod: 14. Modern Day 4. Have you ever wanted to play a mod that is set in the current year? The closest start point to a mod that brings us to the today appears to currently be in 2016.
Modern Day 4 presents a world with turmoil in the Middle East as we know, however MD4 presents deviations from the norm. The mod is ongoing in development, various Focus Trees, Technologies, and so forth continue to be fleshed out. It's well worth giving the game a shot and see how it feels with what the team has developed thus far.Link to the Mod: 13. Doomsday Series: Zombies modern Day Submod. Have you ever wanted to add more flavor to your Hearts of Iron experience? Perhaps expand on the diplomatic interactions? League of Nations is the mod that does just that.
When you start a new game, the League of Nations is formed with the historically correct member states. It allows for pressure against aggressive members, as there’s a percent-based 'aggressive' rating and when it reaches 10%, the council can convene and oppose the aggressive state(s).Link to the Mod: 10.
Increased ResourcesNow the Middle East is more appealing for imperialistic folk to. Liberate them.Is there ever a time where you’re low on a resource constantly as your demands to fuel that beautiful war machine of yours just can’t be met? Suffice to say, this is a perfect mod to help you out with crushing your foes without needing to wait or constantly import more and more, wasting those precious civilian factories on that need.Link to the Mod: 9.
Increased Manpower from Non-Cored StatesAs you can see, bigger numbers are the result of using this map. Bigger numbers = More conquest.Have you ever felt that when taking territory that there isn’t much of a boost in manpower to pool in and feed your army with? Well, that would be because normally non-cored states will only yield 2%.
There’s a solution, though! It is this mod taking place at number nine. Increased Manpower from Non-Cored States tweak the manpower yield of states from 2% to 30%. That may sound massive, and while it is – it also isn’t. This mod isn’t game-breaking; however, it makes a huge difference in your gameplay experience. Check it out and see if you notice the difference, if you haven’t before! Otherwise, check it out to enjoy a smoother experience as you progress through your diabolical world domination scheme.Link to the Mod: 8.
Player-Led Peace ConferencesThe ability to direct who gets what is particularly nice and powerful. Even better for multiplayer, as players can enjoy their game with dividing land how they want without the AI being cheeky and ruining a beautiful political map. With Player-Led Peace Conferences, at the end of any war you’ve been involved in, you get to direct the course of who takes what. You can distribute territory to allies as well, however there are a few matters also worth noting; You can’t distribute puppets to allies.
The means of how points distributed by AI to players of the same faction in multiplayer is unknown, and otherwise if you happen to be playing as a puppet nation, there’s no certainty on if you’ll receive points to use during a peace conference. Even those minor nuances aren’t worth allowing to deter you from checking this out, especially if you want more control over your game!Link to the Mod: 7. Make Peace, Not WarAs you can see here, the dashing Prince Paul can propose for peace. For those antiquated with HoI4, you know well with how the game lacks a conditional surrender feature. Such as a means to end a war sooner rather than later with a loss of territory, but not the entirety of a nation lost.
Instead, you have to push through wars until the bitter end. Even as the war would become wilder and more absurd as more nations join in against you, demanding you to juggle your focus on fronts on occasion. This mod, however, is a fine solution to give gameplay a more realistic feel, and helps keep the game from going too over the top.Link to the Mod: 6. Hearts of Iron IV: The Great War. There are many mods out there that present you with various alternative history scenarios.
Modern day mods, however, aren’t quite as common, but there are those out there absolutely worth mentioning. Starting our list was Modern Day 4, however, at number four on our list is a truly refined gem of a modern-day scenario; Millenium Dawn: Modern Day Mod. Taking you to the turn of the century, and millennium in fast, MD allows you to take control of any nation that exists today. You start before the explosion of geo-political chaos in the Middle East, and it is up to you to retain peace, or prepare for a great war that may very well destabilize the world and create new boundaries.Link to the Mod: 3. The Road to 56. If you’re looking for a mod that spices up your experience on Hearts of Iron IV every time you play it, then The Road to 56 is the mod just for you! Spicing up the experience with overhauling every major nation’s Focus Tree, and even also the minor states, right down to Luxemburg, you’ll find much of what you need right here.
Besides Focus Tree overhauls, there’s also tech tree additions, and changes in the government panels for your state to give you more specified options with how to gear your nation up to be just how you like it more than before!Link for the mod: 2. Old World Blues. For you Fallout fans especially, we bring to you at number two: Old World Blues. Named after the DLC from Fallout: New Vegas, Old World Blues brings the scope of lore from New Vegas into Hearts of Iron IV! From taking up the rein of Caesar’s Legion to playing as their great adversary, the New California Republic, to taking up New Vegas as Mr. House, and all of the other peculiar tribes and states in between, it is up to you with how you shall forge the future of your people.
Call in imperium or manifest destiny, in this post-apocalyptic setting, it is in your hands with how you’ll face the enemies around you and ensure a lasting legacy is made in the decimated western United States.Link for the mod: 1. Presenting to you at number one is a proper alternative history mudpack. What if the German Empire won The Great War? Well, you get to experience it for yourself here. France and the United Kingdom have succumbed to communism. The United States is on the brink of collapse. Japan, weakened, yearns to forge its future with a multicontinental Germanic state that seeks to retain its power as the rest of the world grows restless.
Who will you play? How will you play?
Can you keep win the inevitable Second Civil War of the United States? If so, then as who?
The Syndicates? The spiritual successor of the Confederacy? Or as the de facto United States government as it waits for its enemies to spring into action? Or perhaps you’ll sit upon the Chrysanthemum Throne of Japan and, as Hirohito, guide Japan to reach its rightful claim to authority in East Asia, or perhaps all the Pacific? It’s for you to decide, naturally!
One thing is for sure; this mod is a must-play to change your experience in Hearts of Iron IV.Link to the mod:You may also be interested in:.
